The story follows Ronja, a young girl whose father is the chief of a tribe of bandits. The live in a huge castle in the forest with the bandits. In this story Ronja encounters mystical creatures as she explores and experiences life in the forest. Somewhere along the lines she makes friends with another young child much like herself.

Based on a children’s book by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, the series – which was originally shown between October 2014 and March 2015 – is directed by Gorō Miyazaki, son of Studio Ghibli’s co-founder Hayao.

Anime house Studio Ghibli released its first TV series back in 2014 and now it is becoming available to view in the UK for the first time.

Amazon Prime has nabbed the rights to air all 26 episodes of Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, a series follows the titular protagonist – a member of a proud tribe of bandits in a fantastical kingdom – who befriends the son of her family’s rival clan.
